Ellenbrook Fields is a green oasis in Hatfield, valued by local people and important to our community. It’s under threat from a planning submission to construct a quarry on the site. A quarry that would operate for the next 40 years and impact on us for generations. Andrew is supporting local residents to oppose this proposal and make our voices heard.

What is proposed?
You can find the planning application for a quarry to be constructed on Ellenbrook Fields here.
Why does Andrew and Welwyn Hatfield Labour oppose the proposal?
A quarry on this site would be totally inappropriate. The landowner (ARC) has previously broken its promise to deliver a country park trust for local people. There are unanswered questions about the continuing risk of bromate in the water supply and serious concerns about air and noise pollution.
This briefing from local residents groups presents the case against in much greater detail.
How can you help?
Andrew spoke at a public meeting on 25th October in opposition to the quarry, ahead of a key vote of Hertfordshire County Councillors on 31st October.
Hertfordshire County Council is run by the Conservatives. Concerningly, officers from the council are recommending approval for the application.
You can help by emailing all the members of this committee to ask them to vote against the proposal. Their contact details are here.
